What is Predictive AI? Definition and explanations

Predictive AI uses models trained on historical data to estimate a future value or probability: a customer's churn risk, next week's demand, an equipment failure. Unlike generative AI, it does not produce content — it produces a number with an attached uncertainty. Its reliability depends entirely on how representative the past data is.

In one sentence

Predictive AI estimates a future value or probability from historical data.
