What is Proof of concept? Definition and explanations

A proof of concept (POC) is a limited experiment meant to check that an idea is technically feasible before committing a development budget. It answers one precise question — does this integration work, is this model reliable enough — and stops there. Unlike an MVP, it is not meant to reach real users or to grow into a product.

In one sentence

A proof of concept checks that an idea is technically feasible before you invest.
