What is Private cloud? Definition and explanations

A private cloud provides cloud services — on-demand provisioning, elasticity, internal chargeback — on infrastructure dedicated to a single organisation, hosted on premises or by a third party. It is chosen for sovereignty, compliance or latency requirements. It keeps the usage flexibility of cloud but brings back the cost and responsibility of running it.

In one sentence

A private cloud delivers cloud services on infrastructure dedicated to one organisation.
