Vercel reduces deployment history: what to check before October 23
Daillac research
official announcementD

Vercel announced on October 9, 2026, a change in storage and retention for existing Pro teams. Deployments older than 30 days will be deleted starting October 23, unless settings are changed before that date. For a company relying on an old deployment to roll back, the check must be done before the deadline.
What Vercel announces
The official announcement provides for billing Deployment Storage and Functions Storage at $0.10 per GB-month. The team-specific billing start date is found in its email notice. October 23 concerns the announced start of deletions; these two dates must be verified separately.
Retention rules already set at 30 days or less remain unchanged. Vercel reminds that a deleted deployment can no longer be used for rollback. The team can review the periods applied to production, preproduction, canceled, or error deployments, as well as storage consumption per project.
Check the versions needed for rollback
Start with the projects that serve your clients or employees. For each, identify the version currently in use and the version you would like to restore after an incident. Check their presence in history and their age. The operations manager must know which procedure to follow if the desired version is no longer available.
Source code stored in Git allows you to prepare a new deployment, provided you have the necessary dependencies, settings, and secrets. It does not guarantee that you can immediately restore the old application with its exact environment. Perform a rebuild test in an isolated environment if this mechanism constitutes your fallback solution.
A database modification can also limit rollback. Check that the old version still includes the schema used after the last migration. This check is part of your delivery procedure, independently of Vercel’s storage duration.
A short list before October 23
- Reread the notice received by the team to know its billing date.
- Review the retention periods of the projects concerned.
- Identify the versions necessary for rollback procedures.
- Test the intended reconstruction or restoration mechanism.
- Estimate the stored data and designate the person who monitors usage.
For maintenance, record the chosen retention period and the reason for this choice. An application whose versions are delivered and checked every week does not necessarily have the same need as a tool that is rarely deployed. The goal is to have a realistic rollback procedure with a controlled history.
The guide on Vercel Edge in Canada helps reposition hosting in the site architecture. The Software development service can integrate this verification into the deployment and maintenance review.
