What is Operational efficiency? Definition and explanations

Operational efficiency measures the ratio between results obtained and resources consumed to produce them: time, staff, cost per case handled. Improving it means removing waste without degrading quality or pushing the load elsewhere. A productivity gain obtained by lengthening customer service delays is not a gain, it is a transfer.
